Abstract:
Participatory monitoring and evaluation (PM&E) is the process by which organizations work together to analyze and evaluate project goals, purpose, outputs, activities, inputs, and results. PM&E understands the need for partnerships between sectors and disciplines involving openness and working through learning experiences. This handbook discusses various advantages and disadvantages with regards to practical application, approach, and strategy. PM&E facilitates a better understanding of the real problems of the people by promoting ownership and involvement in the work performed. The handbook details the why, what, and how of PM&E and includes several case studies of PM&E being carried out. Regular monitoring is crucial in determining the effectiveness of a development project. Thus, this program fulfills the need for assessment and reveals where changes need to be made for better success. |
